Who and where are the world's poorest and hungry people? Part I

Speaker: Akhter Ahmed, Senior Research Fellow, Food Consumption and Nutrition Division, International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), USA

"Development practitioners have long been using the dollar-a-day poverty line and so does the first MDG. But the severity of poverty is not the same for everybody living below the dollar-a-day poverty line. Those living far below the poverty line, at the bottom, are at the greatest risk. They are at the greatest risk for hunger. They are at the greatest risk for starvation. They are at the greatest risk for dying."
